How to type chinese
Ok people, this is my first and last time using English, just in case there are people out there who can't even read the chinese words on this blog because they do not have any chinese softwares.Firstly, if you can't read the chinese words (meaning what you see here are just some "garbage words"), you can go to "VIEW", then select "ENCODING", then choose "GB2312". OR you can simply "Right Click", go to "ENCODING" then choose "GB2312".
P.S: ok, those who can't read chinese, you can change Encoding to "GB2312". If you can't read even after changing, try changing it to "Unicode UTF-8", see if this is workable.
For those who cannot type chinese, here's a way to do it.
1. Make sure your computer is WIN XP. Other versions, eg Win 98 cannot use this method.
2. Go to "Control Panel", click "Date, Time, Language and Reginal Options".
3. Click "Regional and Language Options".
4. Go to the tab "Language". See if the box "Install files for East Asian Languages" is checked (meaning is there a tick?)
5. Go back to "Regional and Language Options", click the tab "Regional Options", go to "Select an item to match prefrences....", choose "Chinese PRC". Go to "Location" below and choose "Singapore".
6. Go back to the tab "Language", click "Details".
7. Go to the tab "Settings", under "Installed services", check if there is something called "Chinese (PRC)" and "Microsoft Pinyin IME 3.0", if there isn't, install (Add) and restart computer.
8. Go back to the tab "Settings", go to "Preferences", click "Language Bar", tick all the boxes except the 2nd box.
9. Check if there is "CH" at the desktop tool bar. Click to see if you can type chinese.
